On International Women’s Day 2020, Happy Mother Happy Child collaborated with Young Mothers Initiative to make the celebration meaningful and transformative. Cognizant of Cameroon’s persistent maternal and infant mortality rates, the initiative aimed to promote maternal and infant welfare through action, not just words.

The effort focused on providing unwavering support to over 216 mothers, women, and children at Mboppi Baptist Hospital in Douala, Cameroon. Through this collaboration, hospital patients received donations of essential items such as hospital sanitary needs and baby diapers. Additionally, encouraging pep talks uplifted spirits and brought comfort to the community.

The celebration highlighted the importance of addressing barriers that limit women, girls, and children from thriving and reaching their full potential barriers such as inadequate healthcare and safety concerns. Volunteers and hospital management played a vital role in bringing the initiative to life, underscoring the power of collaboration and community action.

“To achieve an equal world, we must reduce the significant gaps caused by maternal and infant mortality, and push for better survival rates for women and children who represent the future. Together, we strive for #EachForEqual welfare!”

Through this dedication, International Women’s Day 2020 not only celebrated women’s achievements but also advanced the narrative of gender equality and health rights as fundamental human rights.
