The journey began in October 2018, in Douala, Cameroon, with a devastating phone call from a mother whose son was experiencing a seizure. In her panic, she attempted actions that unfortunately resulted in further harm, costing the child his life. This heartbreaking incident highlighted the urgent need for basic First Aid and CPR training, igniting a mission to prevent similar tragedies.

On October 13, 2018, the “Every Second Counts” program was born, aimed at equipping parents, youths, and children with essential life-saving skills. Over the past year, the program has made incredible progress—from conducting home visits and awareness campaigns in cities across Cameroon to offering hands-on practical training and online sessions. These efforts ensure accessibility to life-saving skills even in remote areas.

Cameroon faces significant challenges in healthcare access and emergency response. The “Every Second Counts” program bridges this gap by empowering civilians with the knowledge and confidence to act during emergencies, providing timely and effective assistance.

Starting with just one person, the initiative quickly grew into a movement, impacting thousands of lives and creating a ripple effect of positive change. This journey has been one of hope, resilience, and dedication to saving lives. Together, the community is taking bold steps towards eliminating preventable deaths and ensuring a safer future for all.
