The second Sunday of May is celebrated worldwide as International Mother’s Day—a day dedicated to expressing gratitude for mothers’ tireless efforts, contributions, unconditional love, and, often, their completely selfless sacrifices. However, Mother’s Day 2020 was a unique occasion—a Mother’s Day like no other.

At a time when everyone’s strength and resilience were being tested due to global challenges, mothers had to play countless roles, managing their families’ well-being while facing mounting pressures. Amid such trying times, Happy Mother Happy Child (HMHC) sought to make mothers feel appreciated and cared for, regardless of their social status or circumstances.

On May 10, 2020, HMHC celebrated Mother’s Day by organizing the “I❤️MAMA” cupcake giveaway and distributing nose masks in Makepe, Douala, Cameroon. The team took to the streets to spread kindness and love, handing out over 100 cupcakes and 50 nose masks to local roadside sellers and petit trader mothers. This thoughtful gesture not only brought smiles but also reinforced safety measures amidst the pandemic, encouraging everyone to protect themselves while feeling special.

This initiative embodied the true essence of Mother’s Day—a day filled with sweetness, love, and inclusivity. HMHC believes that no mother should be left behind in these celebrations, as every mama deserves to feel cherished.
